Volunteer
Ferrell Hospital would not be the successful organization it is today without the many volunteers who have supported our endeavors. Joining the Auxiliary and becoming a volunteer are great ways to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families, and to socialize and make new friends.

Ferrell Hospital Auxiliary
Ferrell Hospital Auxiliary is a self-governing membership organization designed to be an integral part of the hospital. It was founded by local individuals who wanted to help Ferrell fulfill their mission to improve the health and welfare of the community. The Auxiliary functions in accord with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the hospital. No dues or fees are associated with membership.

There are three primary volunteer opportunities with various levels of commitment:
Gift Shop Sales
Volunteers are responsible for day-to-day gift shop operations such as inventory and sales. Volunteers in this area are eligible for a discount on merchandise such as home decor, jewelry, seasonal items and more. Shifts are available between 8 AM - 4 PM Monday and Wednesday, and 8 AM - 12 PM Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Ferrell Hospital Ambassadors
Hospital Ambassadors shuttle patients and visitors to and from the hospital entrance and parking lots by way of a golf cart. Ferrell's goal is to offer shuttle services 7:30 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday.

Chemo Buddies at Ferrell Hospital
Chemo Buddies at Ferrell Hospital serve as companions for chemotherapy patients during time-consuming treatments. They offer simple hospitality such as providing snacks and books, playing games, getting blankets and sharing stories like they were visiting a good friend. Chemo Buddies provide a comforting experience physically, mentally and spiritually. We believe no one should ever go through chemo alone. Four-hour shifts are available 8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday.

Benefits for Auxiliary Members:
  • Lunch in the Maple Street Cafe before or after a scheduled shift
  • Drinks from the Maple Street Cafe through a scheduled shift
  • Inclusion in all hospital activities that are open to employees
  • Invitation to the annual volunteer banquet
  • Free vaccines including flu, COVID-19, Hepatitis A & B, and Tdap
Becoming a Volunteer
To become a Ferrell Hospital Auxiliary Member, you must be 18 years or older, complete an application and orientation packet and provide immunization records. Candidates may be interviewed prior to volunteer placement, must pass criminal background and OIG/Exclusion checks, take a TB survey, and provide proof of flu vaccination.
